Motorola Moto G8 Plus vs Motorola One Zoom: Comparison and Differences

Spread the love

The proposals in the middle range of Motorola are more and more varied, which makes the decision between one or the other difficult. In this case, we are going to put the Moto Plus G8 and Motorola zoom in face to face, two smartphones with superior aspirations and which have a lot to say in the current mobile market.

Both smartphones have similar equipment, with an attractive design in both cases and a set of features that, at first glance, may seem very similar, although, when we find them, you will see how the purchase decision will be clearer.

Design and displays

We cannot deny that we are facing two smartphones that at the front have similarities, but totally different at the back, mainly due to the module that integrates the Motorola One Zoom. Both the Moto G8 Plus and its competitor are made of aluminum alloy, without making the leap to the already characteristic glass that has become so popular.

The Moto G8 Plus screen is a 6.3 inch IPS LCD screencompared to the Motorola One Zoom OLED Technology that minimally increases the size to 6.39 inches. Both have Full HD + resolution and an almost tracked aspect ratio. The weight increases a little more in One Zoom, although in size they are almost the same again.

Snapdragon in different versions

Within these phones, we find Snapdragon to move both, although on the Moto G8 Plus we find a slightly less capable version, specifically the Snapdragon 665 that runs at 1.8 GHz. The Motorola One Zoom, however, incorporates the Snapdragon 675, a small leap that can be decisive in the choice.

Snapdragon

Its configuration is unique and we did not find other options for any of them, in Moto G8 Plus we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage with the possibility of expansion with Micro SD. The Motorola One Zoom grows in storage up to 128 GB and maintains compatibility with the Micro SD Card, but in RAM we still have 4 GB.

Cameras for all our needs

Both phones include an important photographic section, their main lens is in both cases 48 Mpx with an aperture of f / 1.7, also accompanied in both models by a 16 Mpx wide-angle to capture landscapes and wide spaces. The 5 Mpx sensor is also shared by the two models, improving the results of the portrait mode. Although finally, the Motorola One Zoom includes an 8 Mpx lens to get a telephoto lens, this will give us one more option compared to the Moto G8 Plus.

Moto Plus G8

At the front, both integrate the camera, the Moto G8 Plus 20 Mpx, while the Motorola One Zoom does this with 25 Mpx and an f / 2.0 aperture. As for video recording, both models achieve 4K resolution, but only the Motorola One Zoom with digital image stabilizer.

Battery and connectivity

Motorola generally does a good job with its batteries and, in this case, we are faced with two teams that share 4,000 mAh with identical power, 18W to fill the battery in just over an hour. As for connectivity, if we find big differences, the Moto G8 Plus integrates the fingerprint reader on the back, including audio jack and Bluetooth 5.0. In the case of Motorola One Zoom, we keep all these advantages, but we also add NFC.

Android Stock for both

With virtually no additions or modifications to ruin or improve our experience, both models are based on Android 9 Pie and are expected to receive Android 10 in the coming months. Its battery management means that we have no problems reaching the end of the day and its performance is what we can expect, without additions, many customization options, but also without errors.

Prices and purchase recommendation

Looking at their prices, the Moto G8 Plus and this Motorola One Zoom have a difference of more than 200 euros, something that is high for us, as we have two models that have great similarities, but also some differences. In case you need a telephoto lens, NFC, a little more storage and energy, the bet is undoubtedly the Motorola One Zoom, although if we want to save a good bit and don’t mind leaving these features on the road, Moto’s proposal G8 Plus currently seems the most recommended.
